This year, the seniors selected “R15e Up” as our class theme for the school year. “Rise Up” has been circling through the city of Atlanta for a good two years now since Samuel L. Jackson and Company made their exciting commercial for Atlanta Falcons publicity.
As a class, we feel that we have to “Rise Up” to the challenge of being a great senior class for the rest of the school. This year, the Falcons started their season off strong with a tenacious comeback victory over the NFC South Rival New Orleans Saints in overtime. It was a great start to a rebound season after a rather disappointing 4-12 season a year ago. So far, Matt Ryan has led a strong offensive showing, throwing for a franchise record and career high in yards (448). Five different receivers had over 50 yards receiving, so clearly Ryan is spreading the wealth. Offseason Free Agency recruit Devin Hester shone in the season opener with 5 catches and 99 yards after not catching a pass all year last season for the Chicago Bears.
Looking at the Falcons’ success so far as a positive sign for the remainder of football season, the seniors hope to carry the momentum of a good start by the Falcons to the rest of the school and hopefully make it a Super Bowl caliber kind of year.
