The three weeks of my Sports Medicine Janterm went by quickly, but it left a much bigger impression on me than I initially thought it would. There were new discoveries every day. From something as small as noticing items that athletes apply in order to prevent injuries, understanding how certain conditions and foods could affect your health, or learning where to focus physical conditioning using artificial intelligence and some simple math. The class felt active, alive and served as a refreshing break from the usual lectures. It gave me some much needed time as a person to grow and understand myself physically, mentally and spiritually. My Sports Medicine JanTerm not only helped me understand the biomechanics of athletes and explore the insides of world-class training facilities, but it also imprinted on me something new. It pushed me to be more intentional about how I treat my own body and how I approach improvement, both in sports and in everyday life. I left the course with a greater sense of awareness, curiosity and respect for the connection between effort, recovery and long-term health. Even though it only lasted a few weeks, the lessons didn’t feel temporary: they became part of how I think, move and reflect, making the Janterm an experience I know will stay with me well beyond the classroom.
